Unifying Time and Uncertainty for Diagnosis 1

چکیده

Existing models of diagnosis have not uni ed the notions of time, uncertainty and abduction which are necessary in domains such as clinical diagnosis, dynamic systems modeling, and fault diagnosis. We present a new approach which models information through linear constraints and nd that many aspects of our knowledge-base and inferencing mechanism are naturally suited towards these constraints. Furthermore, this approach properly subsumes existing abductive and temporal models and provides a precise framework for explanatory reasoning. 2

Modelling and Compensation of uncertain time-delays in networked control systems with plant uncertainty using an Improved RMPC Method

Control systems with digital communication between sensors, controllers and actuators are called as Networked Control Systems (NCSs). In general, NCSs encounter with some problems such as packet dropouts and network induced delays. When plant uncertainty is added to the aforementioned problems, the design of the robust controller that is able to guarantee the stability, becomes more complex. In...

Finite time stabilization of time-delay nonlinear systems with uncertainty and time-varying delay

In this paper, the problem of finite-time stability and finite-time stabilization for a specific class of dynamical systems with nonlinear functions in the presence time-varying delay and norm-bounded uncertainty terms is investigated. Nonlinear functions are considered to satisfy the Lipchitz conditions. At first, sufficient conditions to guarantee the finite-time stability for time-delay nonl...

Planning under Risk and Knightian Uncertainty

Two noteworthy models of planning in AI are probabilistic planning (based on MDPs and its generalizations) and nondeterministic planning (mainly based on model checking). In this paper we: (1) show that probabilistic and nondeterministic planning are extremes of a rich continuum of problems that deal simultaneously with risk and (Knightian) uncertainty; (2) obtain a unifying model for these pro...

An Introduction to Expert Systems

This monograph provides an introduction to the theory of expert systems. The task of medical diagnosis is used as a unifying theme throughout. A broad perspective is taken, ranging from the role of diagnostic programs to methods of evaluation. While much emphasis is placed on probability theory, other calculi of uncertainty are given due consideration.
